About a year or so ago, Ghostec member Sandy had one of the work drivers come to her with some ghost stories, things that had happened to him while at his old home in Eastern Virginia. His brother lives there alone. Sandy shared the stories and nothing more was thought of it until the driver recently asked her to have Ghostec look into the stories and visit the home.

The owner turned out to be a very nice man and though the brother had experiences there, he has had nothing happen to him personally. He has friends that tell of things. This story begins like all others, with the human experience but nothing that can be backed up scientifically to date. The home was built between 1820/1830, a one floor dwelling. The house and 80 acres of land were purchased by the present owner’s great grandparents in 1910. It still has the outside, original kitchen.

The area it is in is rich in Civil War history. There is a small cemetery nearby as well. Also a graveyard was supposed to have been there and might we under I-95 as the graves were never discovered or mentioned by the family. A railroad track runs close by.

In 1963 the grandmother had the house remodeled and a second floor added. Unfortunately the remodeling now keeps the house from being on the historical registry. It also may have been the beginning of paranormal events to start unfolding there also.

Grandmother felt a push from unseen hands while on the stairs and fell approximately twelve steps all the way to the bottom. She was elderly and one would think this would have broken bones at the least, but she heard a voice saying, “put her down; we are not ready for her yet.”  She sustained no injuries at all. Still, another thing that happened to the grandmother was the spirit of a little boy who kicked her leg. She had a bruise there the next day. Who knows...maybe someone was angry about the remodeling of the home. Grandmother passed away in 1983.

Some of the things others have had happen were cold spots, an invisible force that seemed to stop a lady from going up the stairs, feeling ill once they left the house, a man with long coat and top hat seen in the upstairs bedroom. The man was witnessed by the owner's brother.

A great aunt died in the house and the owner’s aunt saw a mist rise from the body and float out of the window. A friend of the owner has had a feeling of being pushed on the stairs and a man who rooms there often with the owner says he feels a cold draft at the foot of the stairs. Cold spots are also noted in the kitchen. The owner’s mother passed away in 1993 and she had prophetic dreams often, even talking to her husband on the night she died. He had already passed away in 1984.

Ghostec members Sandy, Jonathan, Nanci and Gary made a trip down to talk to him. They toured the house and talked to the owner. The group took readings, did EVPs, recorded the house with a camcorder and took pics. Nothing paranormal showed up, but we all know ghosts just don’t appear because we whip out equipment, so we will reserve judgment at this time.

The house is near a major highway and makes outside EVPs near impossible. Ghostec has sort of put this investigation on hold until the weather cools down and the owner has a chance to collect all incidents that he thinks may be paranormal.
